Welcome to the viewing party of a brunch thrown by a queen, full of pink peonies and sweet little panda bears!
Ok, so the queen part might be a slight exaggeration, but the hostess herself is known by her sisters, and close friends, as the queen of the group. So take a look at this mid-June brunch thrown in her beautiful Mountain Brook home, styled and coordinated by bijou - in-home event styling!
As the hostess herself has spent her life around horses- riding, competing and cherishing the beautiful creatures, she has also had a love for panda bears! And although she's never owned one, she has an adorable collection of panda bear figurines that family and friends over the years have helped her collect. So for this brunch, we decided to incorporate a few of them into the design.
One reason I love styling an event or party in someone's home is so that we get to use their precious family heirlooms, if they so desire. What is the purpose of having beautiful pieces passed down to you if you don't bring them into the daylight or out of the china cabinet every now and then? These kinds of items in your home you ought to find appreciation and adoration for. They might be part of your heritage, your family or from a journey once experienced. Breathe life into your history by taking advantage of such cherished pieces.
For this brunch, we used such beautiful ingredients for the table, new and old. The delicate white napkins and soft pink placemats were hand sewn by the hostess's great-grandmother.
Talk about that china pattern! Beautifully crafted and covered in hydrangeas, it looked so charming in between her elegant sterling silverware.
When designing a look for the table a couple of weeks before hand, we got into a conversation about the beautiful sterling silver tea set. The hostess wished to leave it out, though she wasn't planning on using it, knowing her sisters enjoy seeing it as it was their late mother's. So I found a way to not only use it, but to show it off. I set the individual pieces of the set down the middle of the table using them as floral arrangement "vases." This provided an accessory to the floral arrangements as well as a conversational piece.
The various silver goblets, also used for florals, the hostess won shooting trap and skeet, some with engravings on the sides.
And for her guests- a refreshing white sangria was served, along with quiche, hot biscuits and fruit.
All of that, with this view in the background: (!!)
This brunch was easier to put together than you might realize! And what fun it was. So why not curate one yourself?
Thank you to the beautiful hostess for allowing me to pull this lovely June morning together for her!

Lions and zebras and elephants oh my! {a bijou baby shower}
Hello and happy mid-week to everyone! I hope your week has been good so far. My Monday was a total Monday. But yesterday was way better due to writing and uploading this post full of cute little animals. :) Now it's ready to be shared with you!
Last month, I had the privilege of styling a sweet jungle filled baby shower. I truly enjoyed working on it, and was so pleased with how it turned out! Lots of women came and enjoyed a fun afternoon celebrating a new little life that's about to begin.
Check out all the details below! Credits listed at bottom.
It was a great start to my crazy busy month of June. And now I can't believe it's already the middle of July!
Thanks to my awesome client who hired me to help her with this very special day in her family's life. I'm honored to be apart of events like this, that will be remembered for years to come!
