Ginny Au Workshop. Those three words together are the prettiest 3 words I focused on the end of this past week. If you are involved in the wedding, event or styling world at all, you might have come across that name at some point. If not, well, you should look her up, like yesterday. She is an incredibly talented stylist and I was honored to be taught for a few hours under her!
Check out this beautiful personalized Shinola journal, with our names written by Script Merchant Calligraphy that we were each given to take notes in. My pencil was dull by the end!
Here's how my bright and sunny Friday went:
Friday morning I headed to The Nest, in Birmingham, a great little venue I had heard fun things about! It was the perfect place for something around 13 of us gals, from all over, gathered around Ginny Au and listened intently as she brought her own styling world to life right in front of us. She taught on unique ways for finding inspiration and creating style boards. One main point she made that really stuck with me was, how would you find new ideas if you're only looking at what other people have already used? She encouraged us to be inspired by things in life that will lead us to fresh ideas. We looked at beautiful art work, paintings, unusual photography and even listened to some classical music. It really opened my eyes to think about how to style something, starting with all of that, rather than starting with photos someone else has already shared a million times.
A little background- Ginny Au is British, but lives here in Birmingham (where her husband is from). After meeting her, I soon realized she is one of the most down to earth people I have ever met. She was so sweet to each and every one of us, treating us as though we are friends of hers and fellow stylists. When she taught and discussed, she was open, honest and just plain adorable. It made the day just THAT much more enjoyable. And I thank her for that.
The photos below are just glimpses of beautiful decor that Ginny brought and charming florals and greenery by Rosegolden Flowers!
After her powerpoint presentation, and our dedicated note taking was finished, Ginny showed us how she likes to style a table, then a bride/model, and then an invitation suite. We watched her, in all her styling glory, eager to get our own hands on the pieces.
But before we got to, we broke for lunch. It consisted of the best chicken salad {sandwich} I have ever tasted, (apparently made by Ginny's own mother!) wrapped in paper and tied with string and accompanied with chocolates wrapped in cheese cloth, grapes and a cute little bottle of rose lemonade! I mean seriously. I wish I had gotten a better photo of this lunch, it was THAT cute. However, I can blame it, in a good way, on having a fun conversation with my table mate. It was great to meet and connect with the other gals there! They are fellow stylists, photographers, artists, bloggers and even moms. (What a fun career I chose!)
Then it was our turn to play! We broke into three groups and each rotated to the three sections to style. My group's first was the invitation suites. Each of us played with a couple of different suites, styling them to our own desires. Here are a couple iPhone snaps of mine: (I used my Canon Rebel for all other photos.)
Then we moved onto the model/bride (who happens to be Ginny's assistant, Kaela Rawson. She said she "get's married a lot.." due to the mount of times she puts on a wedding dress, holds a bouquet and lets strangers position her body how they want.)
Then we got to move onto the table designs! We each took a half table and did what we want. But by this point, as the class was nearing an end, the decor and flowers were scattered all over the room. So I decided to keep it simple, and natural looking, rather than try to do a big fancy look. Between the greenery and the rocks, I felt as though it gave a stream/river ambiance. :)
I can't tell you how much fun I had. It was a magical day for me, as it was also the first styling and design workshop I've ever attended. It gave me insight, inspiration, ambition, an event styling high, and a perfect reminder of WHY I got into this, WHY I love it and WHY I am SO GRATEFUL to God for allowing this to be my "work!" I am blessed to be able to do what I love!
I ended my day sitting down around my table with my husband and a couple/friends of ours for a Mexican dinner, margaritas, and good conversation. It was a great way to relax after a wonderful day!
Hope y'all enjoyed reading about this! Ginny truly was and is an inspiration to me, and her kind words to me personally about my new adventure I'm embarking on (that I have yet to announce to you all ;) was the breathtaking flower on top of the icing on top of the cake!
Happy Spring~

March is upon us. So that means I'm going to write about it. Because I can. (It's also my birthday month HEYYY-OOO!)
Hi! Hey, yes I'm late, I'm sorry! I'm here now! Let's begin.
(By the way, I never claimed I was a good blogger... right?)
I have just come to a realization. Hopefully it will help as I have been lacking in some serious inspiration to write/blog/express anything of value as of late. (Note: the realization is explained four short paragraphs below. I just gotta ramble about some stuff to get there.)
In the recent couple of weeks, a new adventure has approached and I'm currently trying to jump on the double-decker bus. (It has nothing to do with London.. though I wish...) I'm VERY excited! It has had a good bit of my attention as I've been working on it. I don't want to share anything yet, but I should be able to by the end of this month.
But that isn't all I'm here to not talk about. Today I woke up happy. Well, actually, that's not entirely true.. I woke up very tired while my husband poked me on my leg because I kept hitting my snooze button. Anyway, in a sense, I was happy (once I had had my coffee and was actually thinking about the day..) because it's MARCH 1st! Let me explain. First and foremost, it's my birthday month. And while I won't try to trick people into celebrating my birthday all 31 days of this beautiful month, I still can express some excitement and giddy joy because, well, I like my birthday. Always have. It's the glorious day when Taylor Elizabeth Perkins was born. And if you ask my mother, she'll tell you it was a pretty awesome day. I mean duhhhh.
Ok, ok enough with the boastful jokes. I'll move on. This month has a lot to offer me this year! Every other year, I've normally enjoyed March for a couple reasons that don't all reflect my birthday. My family used to travel a lot in March, it's the beginning of Spring after two terribly boring months of nothing, and in recent years, I've spent my birthday in Alabama with my bf. (Yes, I did just use the "bf" in a sentence. Deal.) But last year probably topped them ALL. Why? Because that very same boy popped THE question ON my birthday. (Which was also the day after our one-year anniversary of dating.) Yes, the question that I said "Yes" too and in return I got a gorgeous diamond ring that I love love love. Don't get me wrong, I do love him more. (But just between us kids, it seriously is my fav piece of jewelry.) Anyway! It was a good time had by all last March.
Moving on.
This year, I have multiple reasons that I know this month is going to be awesome. So I decided tonight, while making tacos and listening to some early 2000's music.. because I mean, who doesn't want a flashback to high school? *cue Santana feat. The Wreckers - I'm Feeling You* I am going to take the grand opportunity March is presenting me to share all the awesome stuff as I go along! I want to share cool stuff I encounter with you anyway, it's just that the last few weeks have served me nothing. Until now. I really am looking forward to some adventures this month, and I'm sure they'll continue into the next few months. But for now I'll start with one at a time.
"One" being tomorrow. So, yeah. You'll just have to read tomorrow for my first awe-inspiring March mania post. ;)
Until then, if you're stuck in snow, build a snowman. If you're not, dance in the rain? Build a fort. Or go work out! Swim suit season is cooommmmiinnnnggggggg *cue JAWS theme song*

Oh, no, honey I'm good. Really.
(First off: I'm just going to skip the long drawn out paragraph describing why I haven't written in weeks and just move on....cool? Cool.)
I don't know about the rest of you, but the treats we received over the holiday season are still lingering around our place. My husband and I received cookies, sweet treats and candy and even have some soda lying around, and it is not good. I mean it WAS good. What's Christmas without the sweets?! But though we have finished some and thrown out others, there are still milky ways that find their way into my mouth at least once a night. Chocolate, Dr Pepper and peppermint chocolate Hershey kisses are my absolute weakness. But today I finally woke up with the desire to stop eating the junk and get back into a healthy eating and workout routine.
Last year before my wedding, I ate well and was staying active with work but worked out in between. But from the honeymoon on, the hubs and I have spent our time more enjoying the guilty pleasures of life including eating chocolate and lounging on the couch watching The Office and Game of Thrones. But like everyone else in America, in January, we desire to get back into shape.
So today, I got on the elliptical and only 20mins in, I thought I was going to die. I absolutely hate that feeling of trying to work out after I haven't in a while. It's like my body is saying "what the crap are you doing to me?!" But all I have to do is look at my middle section, daydream of our beach trip this coming summer, think about my cute bikinis and I push on. Sweat drenched, muscles aching, and Bruno Mars cheering me on, it is TIME to feel good about my health again! (Wow, this could not be a more cliché January blog post, could it?! Eh, whatever.)
So today, my inspiration piece to share is this:
The second one is great because how many times do we wake up ready to do something, yet we go to bed kicking ourselves because we "never got around to it?" If I think about how I'll feel crawling into bed at night feeling defeated, it'll push me to want to do more in the day. I think it can also apply to other areas, not just working out. Work, responsibilities, even house chores, and goals in life, are all something we want to feel like we're making progress with. Even if it is little by little, if we go to bed each night feeling satisfied with what we did get done that day, it will get better and better every single day.
Here's to healthy living, physical and emotional!

h a p p y | Christmas | s t u f f
Lights, garland, music!
I love Christmas time SO MUCH. But I already shared a bit about why I love it in my last post, so now I want to share some things I think are great for Christmas time.
A little of this, a little of that...
Boxwood greenery. I bought two small boxwood wreaths for my front french doors, and I love them. I love pine and other greenery, but the boxwood is just so fresh looking, I couldn't resist. To make them a little more festive, but without covering them up to much, I added a few little ornament balls to them.
First Christmas tree.

First Christmas tree.
Since my hubby and I have years to collect special, kid-krafted, and other unique ornaments, we stuck with the basics this first year together. We bought an assortment of colored balls, mixed white and colored lights, and then added one picture frame ornament, from a wedding gift, with our wedding picture inside.
Throwback to 2011.
I made this Christmas 2011. It was amazing. No, I have not made it again, but I do recommend something making it! And maybe I will again one day. Peppermint, cheesecake, cake, icing, more peppermint… it's all there and it's all perfect.
Ok, now onto things on my WISHLIST.
A sparkly sequined skirt. I've been searching the city for the perfect one, and though I haven't found it yet, I still believe in the magic of Christmas and I'll find one soon enough. But if not, I'll totally take a pair of these pants instead! I'd love to rock those for a Christmas or New Years party.
THIS.
I LOVE mojitos. And I still swear, the Sandal's resort we went to on our honeymoon had the MOST amazing mojitos ever. But I found this one and I love the look of it for Christmas time. I haven't tried it yet, planning on this week or next actually. And I'll try to remember to share how it tastes. Basically, it's just a regular mojito with melon and pomegranate seeds. Sounds delish, I know.
And that.
Found this adorable thing in Target yesterday. It went immediately on my Christmas list my family is begging for. I'm not much for making a list of items. I never know what I want until I'm out shopping and randomly find something. This is one of those somethings.
And now the kicker :: my December inspiration collage
{these pins can be found on my Pinterest boards, 'Christmas, my favorite' & 'for Savor & Swoon'}
Merry Christmas, y'all!

Savoring This Season Of Life
Alright, my plan to write on here at least once a week, hopefully more, has turned into posting once a month. I believe I'm heading in the wrong direction. At least I can say it's because I've been busy with family and life, and not because I've been doing nothing. But I'll work on it…
In the meantime, this morning has brought me to find many little things that are making me truly happy inside. And I want to write about all of them.
This happiness actually started last week. My sister-in-law and her husband from TX, my parents from ID, and my girlfriend from TN all came into town for Thanksgiving. It was such a fun week, hanging with tons of family, eating, shopping, decorating and talking with each other, sharing old stories, and looking up hilarious goats on YouTube. It was refreshing for my soul. I hadn't seen my parents since I waved goodbye leaving my wedding on Aug. 30th. But last week, I shared precious moments with lots of different people, and it blessed me greatly.
So onto this week.. It was hard Monday morning. The guests were gone, the house was messy, and I had to get back into the thought process of making dinner. It was back to regular life. But the week turned into something much sweeter.
The hubs had Wednesday and Thursday off of work, and that meant one thing in my mind.. Christmas tree shopping! On Weds., we ran some errands, then stopped by a nursery and picked out our very first Christmas tree. This isn't just our first major holiday season married, it's our first together! Thanksgiving, and soon Christmas. After we took the tree home, we headed back out to a movie. (He was sweet enough to take me to see the newest Hunger Game's movie I've been waiting patiently to see.)
When we got home, we turned on Christmas music, opened a bottle of wine, and started decorating our tree, mantel and a couple other areas in our apartment. It was truly a beautiful evening with my husband. Hardly anything makes me happier than Christmas time, and spending it with my best friend and new husband, with sparkly lights, pretty music, laughs and goofing off, the night was simply perfect.
Ok so back to this morning. Memories from home swept over me as I scrolled through some old Instagram photos. As much as I am enjoying living in the south, and enjoying married life, I still miss home. As anyone hopefully does. It's not a bad thing of course, I hope many of you miss family or home life because that means you have good memories to install the missing. No one likes it, but it means there is worth to seek after, hope for, drive you to call someone, visit somewhere or write about it, like I'm doing. But unless we have that very mindset, that is what I wrote above, hope, then the missing is just miserable. If we only ponder what memories did for us in the past, and don't drive them into something great for the future, they will eventually die out and be forgotten. So I have decided to write about a few things I miss dearly from home and share what is great about missing them, but also what I have here in my new home, that will be memories for me in years to come.
{the house I still call home}
Though I will never live there again, and I have my own new home, there is still the house I grew up in, it's still the place my heart calls home. The little noises, views from the windows, the kitchen where many late night conversations with my mom took place, the dining room table where so many people have eaten- new friends and old, the fire place that roars in the cold winter months… It has always been, and Lord willing always will be, a place of comfort. Not just because my parents are there, but because of it's ambience. My mother has always had great taste, and the house has always had a warm and cozy inviting feel to it. That's what I want to create in my own home.
I'm glad I have so many memories from one place through out my childhood and early adulthood. It was in that house I learned so many lessons, cried so many tears, laughed, celebrated and even grew to love the career path I eventually chose. It will be from those cherished memories that I will establish a new home with my husband, and eventually our children. Not just the house itself, but the life that is lived within it.
{the winter scenery}
Idaho is truly a beautiful state, and Coeur d'Alene is part of it's magic. I will miss the snow. I have never liked a Christmas without it. And though even Cd'A sometimes gets a snowless Christmas, it still gets it at some point during winter. Now that I'm in Alabama, there's that chance we'll get sunny 70' weather. That just isn't winter.
When the hubs and I visit Idahome for New Years, I hope there is snow. I hope there is tons of it… white covered mountains and tress and I hope I have to dig through all the old snow gear I left up there so we can have a snowball fight in the back yard. However, if there isn't a whole lot of snow, I still can think about how beautiful the snow is, and what a magical world a little city like Cd'A turns into when covered in bright sparking white. I'll definitely be dreaming of a white Christmas this year…
{the dog}
I really do miss having a dog around. Though our family dog that I was closest to passed away a few years ago, our second family dog, Bagel, has always been a sweetie to me. My mom is her true fan and loves her the most, but Bagel was still a good companion that would sleep with me when I was home alone, and cuddle with me while watching Netflix. She is a silly beagle, howling at the turkeys or deer outside, or even at the neighbors walking their own dogs. But having a dog around has always been so normal for me.
Now that I don't have one, (we REALLY want one… just need to wait until we're better prepared for owning one,) I do realize that when I was still single, I liked having a dog because I could talk to her (and she couldn't repeat anything,) and just have another living thing there with me, just being with me. But now, I have a husband. And he is able to reply back, isn't as small, but is almost just as fury, and he is my true lifelong companion. The one I get to cuddle with every night, and he doesn't bark.
Ok is it bad I just compared my husband to a dog?? I mean, I'm not intentionally doing pros and cons of the two.. I'm just saying, having a husband is better! Way better. I guess maybe a better way to put that is, I don't NEED a dog as much now because I have something better. But of course, I'll happily take a dog… the more the merrier! (I feel as tough I am in a very deep hole……)
and finally, {the holiday season}
This will be my first Christmas away from my parents and sister. Christmas is cherished greatly in our home. My mom and I have always shared a huge love for it, and my sister and dad too. My dad has always reminded us the true reason we celebrate; we never had 'Santa' in our house, but we had traditions, and lots of fun. It's always been my most favorite time of year. I'm totally "one of those people" that gets into it early, and treasures every moment until midnight on the 25th. (And then of course I continue on to the New Year celebration.) But it's always been special, and I thank the Lord for that. I know lots of people don't like the holidays, and even childhood friends of mine couldn't look forward to them due to messy family situations. I so appreciate that I was blessed to have amazing Christmases, that led to every next year looking forward to another. One of the first things my husband and I connected on when we met, was that we both love Christmas time. Ok, not THAT unusual.. but still, we loved talking about it and that alone was almost enough for me. ;) (JK.)
As my hubby and I decorated our tree and home, it really showed how two people from two family's and lots of different traditions are now coming together to create a new family Christmas. I'm looking forward to every year, building up our own Christmas traditions, and then having kids, and watching them grow each year and talk about what they love at Christmas. Sure, I might not have kids that just ADORE it like I do, but I hope and pray they will each see the beauty in what Christmas is. And because my husband and I plan to teach them about Christ, and why we celebrate every December, that alone will hopefully be enough for them to enjoy it in their own personal hearts. *Tis' the reason for the Season*
Of course the thing I miss the most is my family. Without them, non of the above would be something worth missing. It's the people in your life, creating those memories with you, and inspiring whatever you do next, that is what makes missing them so terribly difficult, but oh so beautiful.
Happy December, t.

(I feel as tough I am in a very deep hole……)
and finally, {the holiday season}

Baby, it's cold outside. And I'm sick.
Comfort food at it's best.

Ok, I know I've been absent for a while. I got caught up in life, football, and the fast approaching holidays. Since I wrote last, my parents made plans to come down for Thanksgiving and the hubs and I got tickets to go back to Idahome for New Years. SO EXCITED!!
Anyway, the past few days I've been fighting a sinus cold, and as the temperature drops outside, it's the perfect time to cook the comfort food. With Thanksgiving next week, I should be be watching the carbs, however I have to let myself indulge when most needed. Like a couple days ago, I took a 3 hour nap, (unplanned!) and though I felt super guilty about it, truth is, I needed it! Being sick drains your energy and the nap was good for my body. So here is a very yummy casserole that's perfect for a cold winter evening, and you don't have to feel guilty about it.
:: French Onion Chicken Noodle Casserole ::
I found this recipe on Pinterest (here) back in Sept. and loved it! So this is only the second time I've made it but I highly recommend it.
It's super easy, (I feel like I say that too much..) only consists of a few ingredients and doesn't take more than an hour to make, half an hour depending on the chicken.
The ingredients below are all you need, plus 3cups of cooked chopped chicken. You can buy onion dip or make your own with Lipton dip mix + sour cream, as I did below.
Also, for the chicken, last time I made it I just bought a cooked rotisserie chicken and pulled it apart. This time, I bought boneless skinless breasts, cooked them in the oven and then shredded them using my mixer.
Ingredients:
4 cups cooked chopped chicken
2 cans cream of chicken soup
16oz. container of French onion dip
1 cup cheddar cheese
12oz. egg noodles
1 cup crushed French fried onions
Directions:
Cook the noodles, drain.
Preheat oven to 350' and spray a 9x13in pan with cooking spray.
Add all ingredients, except the French fried onions, to a large bowl and mix together.
Add the cooked noodles to the bowl and mix in.Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan.
Top with the French fried onions.
Cook in oven for 25-30mins, until heated through.
Serves 8-10
